Top tip: Do not follow the Lonely Planet map to find this hostel (ask for directions when you think you're close by). Value for money: We wanted a safe, well located hostel to start our trip and this did deliver, and on budget. This is not a place to make friends over a cold beer (alcohol is strictly prohibited). Worst thing: Mexico is a country of colour, individuality and character – none of these are reflected here. Best thing: Professional, clean and safe. For those wanting the Cancun 'spring break' experience, maybe best to find somewhere nearer the beach.

Location: A few minutes from Cancun's bus terminal makes it convenient for anyone arriving by air or nearby cities. people showing up wanting flip cup and instead finding a more "grown up" sort of hostel.Ħ-bed mixed dorm, $180 MXP pp/per night, 19th – 20th March 2014 Vibe: Clean and clinical white walls welcoming all spectrums of traveller through its lack of pathos and identity. I kind of wonder if some of the previous complaints had more to do with differences in expectations, i.e. This was my second stay at Moloch, and both times, the staff were quite friendly. And if you want to hit the Zona Hotelera, you can pick up city buses a couple of blocks away. Most importantly, it's 3 minutes (walking) from the bus terminal. There is a nice pool out back-perfect for relaxing, especially since, as mentioned, the beaches in Cancun are tough to access. It's completely spotless, not to mention quiet and peaceful, with comfortable beds and reasonable prices. Moloch is a totally different sort of experience.
#Hostel moloch cancun full
Needless to say, Cancun is full of "party" hostels where 20-year olds play flip cup and dance on the bar all night. Hostel Moloch more than rises to the occasion. So when I'm in Cancun, I just want a chill place to hang out for a night before I take the bus to the airport or wherever else I'm headed to. Like it or not, though, Cancun is a major transit hub, and if you're traveling around the Riviera Maya, you're bound to get stuck in town for a night at some point. And while Cancun has nice beaches, so do Playa and Isla Mujeres-and they aren't all walled off by the resorts. I like a good party as much as everyone else, but I'd rather save my beer money for Playa del Carmen. For me, Cancun is kind of a necessary evil.
